The IMMISM phone collects and records data continuously.
Each IMMI panel is managed by a team of specialists whose only job is to monitor members, and make sure they use the IMMI phone properly and consistently. Once the IMMI phone is turned on, it collects data all day long. Because there is a constant stream of data coming from Panel Members, IMMI specialists are consistently aware of Panel Members' media habits.
Unless research Panel Members are non-compliant, they rarely hear from panel managers. Unlike more intrusive research methodologies, IMMI does not continually remind the Panel Member that behavior is being monitored. Experience has shown there is no need to send daily usage instructions, or offer arbitrary sweepstakes-based rewards to encourage compliant behavior. Most Research Panel Members are in compliance with IMMI protocols every day of the week, because all they have to do is carry their cell phone with them.
IMMI aims to keep people in the general research panel for a period of two years. Twice a year, IMMI representatives telephone each Panel Member to reconfirm demographic information and check in for any problems.
